The Father. May 26, 2021

I saw the trailer for this movie when I went to watch Minari and my reaction was “great, yet another movie about taking care of your parent who suffers from dementia”. I’m glad I watched it anyway, because this is not really that kind of movie: it’s about having dementia, which was refreshing.

I wasn’t surprised to find that it’s based on a play after watching the movie, since it really feels like a play. A bit disappointing that the director wasn’t more creative with the visuals, but it was his directorial debut so I think it was a good effort. Really it’s mostly Anthony Hopkins carrying it though.
