Chinatown. June 6, 2020

Probably my third viewing. What struck me this time is how tight the screenplay is–even though it is paced like a 70s movie, there is no fat in terms of plot, with every scene leading directly to the next one. Overall there’s very little I can find that’s at fault here; the only thing I can think of is that the final reveal scene from Evelyn didn’t age very well. Everyone’s performance is amazing. John Huston in particular is a real delight to watch.
