The White Ribbon. June 6, 2020

I find this movie infinitely rewatchable, because of the cinematography and the costume design. For better or for worse, I think of it whenever I see a Central European village. But Haneke isn’t saying anything interesting here. If you start comparing it to his more daring works it feels like a regular drama where the characters are awful. He declared that this movie is about the roots of evil but I’m not sold.
