I can’t rate this as highly as other Mike Leigh movies, though I’ll probably bump it after a rewatch. It’s so unsettling at all times, it might have prevented me from appreciating the smaller bits. But I could definitely appreciate the way Johnny hides his intense suffering behind a veil of intellect. That David Thewlis is really something.

(And of course, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that this is a very appropriate watch for coronatime)
